Swift Addresses 2009 VMAs West Moment In New Song

T-a-y-l-o-r S-w-i-f-t took fans back in time at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night when she debuted a song she wrote about her headline-making appearance at the event in 2009.
A year ago the country star’s magic moment was ruined as she stepped up to claim her first VMA when rapper Kanye West stormed the stage and protested her Best Female Video win.
She returned to the event on Sunday to perform a dramatic new song she wrote in the wake of the controversy – once West had apologized for his actions.
And she wasn’t about to let him or her fans forget about what the rapper did, opening her performance with black and white video footage of her shock at his stage invasion and protest.
An angry-looking, barefooted Swift opened the song, You’re Still an Innocent, with the line, “Guess you really did it this time…” but she appears to have forgiven the rapper, singing repeatedly, “Who you are is not what you did,” and adding, “Everyone of us is mixed up too.”
She then exited the stage with her head bowed.
